Get Rid of Algae in Ponds Quickly!
Bacterial pond treatments such as Pond Klear are great! They offer a natural alternative to eliminate algae over a conventional pond algae treatment, whilst being kind to the environment and safe for ponds inhabitants. However, they take time to work and let’s be honest, who has time anymore?
This is where Algae Klear Xtra comes in to play. Unlike a bacterial treatment, Algae Klear Xtra has one sole purpose and one added benefit (who doesn’t love extras!). Its primary focus is to target pond algae directly and kill it for good. The additional benefit of a light filter helps prevent any new algal growth from forming. This combination is not only extremely effective at dealing with algae but brilliant at improving oxygen levels in ponds which are crucial for fish health.
Algae Klear Xtra is most effective on algae that sits below the surface of the water, either attaching itself to the pond walls, pumps or pond plants. This algae is known as string, or hair algae and can sometimes be confused with blanket weed. To learn more about the differences between the algae’s, read our Ultimate Guide To Blanket Weed!
How to Prevent Algae Growth in Ponds?
Algae Klear Xtra can be used to solve current algae problems. Or as an preventative treatment due to its bright red-light filter, which will not dye your pond water.
For ongoing maintenance, we do recommend using a bacterial treatment such as Pond Klear rather than a pond algae killer. They much better at restoring the biological balance in your pond and creating a natural defence system against algae and fish disease.
How to Get Rid of Floating Algae in Ponds?
Floating algae that sits on the surface of the water like a pillow is commonly known as blanket weed. Algae Klear Xtra is ineffective against this and will require something more specific such as Blanketweed Klear.
It is always important when using any pond treatment to check your water parameters first. You can do this either with a test kit or by adding Pond Equaliser to stabilise the important water parameters. Ideally, your pH should be around 8 and your KH around 5 to get the most out of any product.
Like all pond algae treatments, this can be dangerous to fish and wildlife when it is not used as advised. However, when instructions and dosage rates are followed as advised, this product is safe for fish, plants and wildlife.
